Glenbrook South radio honored for best public affairs program

During the 9th Annual John Drury High School Radio Awards on November 19, Glenbrook South’s radio station, WGBK, was honored with a first place award for best public affairs program.

The awards are sponsored by North Central College and its radio station WONC-FM. The awards honored 2011's most outstanding high school radio talent, both locally and nationally.

North Central College's WONC-FM has sponsored this annual event since 2002. Awards are presented to high school radio stations which are licensed as an AM or FM facility and registered with the Federal Communications Commission.

This year, online-only high school radio stations could also enter. A board of judges made up of broadcast industry professionals selected the winners. All nominees are offered a $1,000 scholarship to attend North Central College.
