PHOTOS: Glenview Shoppers 'Buy Out' Farmers Market
For National Farmer's Market week, Aug. 5-11, Glenview market manager Roxanne Junge encouraged local shoppers to show their support to area vendors. More than 2,000 patrons turned out. Here, read Roxanne's letter of thanks and browse fun pix.
Glenview Farmer's Market Manager Roxanne Junge shared the following as part of last week's market newlsetter, 'Fresh from the Glenview Farmers Market':
A BIG Thank You!
Last week was National Farmers Market Week and I encouraged you to BUY OUT THE MARKET. Well, it really worked!
We hit our highest attendance of over 2,000 people and many vendors were stunned by the sales that day. One of our large produce vendors called to have someone come drop off extra produce because the tables were getting empty by 10 am. One cheese vendor had only one cheese left by the end of the market. It was amazing.
Besides my regular shopping, I purchased #25 of meat (it's cheaper that way), a box of tomatoes (which are now canned) and a huge bag of green beans (which are now in my freezer). I saw lots of smiles on the vendors' faces and received compliments about how nice the Glenview customers are. THANK YOU to everyone who came and did their part to show their appreciation in this way. You are awesome.
There is so much to see, do and taste at the Glenview Farmer's Market! Hope to see you all there!
Sincerely,
Roxanne Junge
Farmers Market Manager

That's WONDERFUL !!! As much a we all love to shop at Dominick's, the produce there is TWICE the cost - and not even close to the FRESHNESS you receive at the Farmer's Market.
