UPDATE: Medical Examiner Identifies Boy, 4, Following Glenview Pool Death
After lifeguards pulled Vicente Cardenas from Roosevelt Pool Friday afternoon, they administered CPR to the unresponsive boy until paramedics arrived. Cardenas died at Glenbrook Hospital shortly after.

Officials have identified the four-year-old boy who was pulled from a Glenview Park District pool Friday afternoon as Vicente Cardenas of Glenview, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Lifeguards administered CPR to the unresponsive boy before paramedics transported Cardenas to Glenbrook Hospital. He died just before 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.
An autopsy will be performed by the Medical Examiner's Office Saturday to determine cause of death. Stay tuned to Patch for more details as they become available.
A four-year-old boy died Friday afternoon after lifeguards at Roosevelt Pool pulled him from the water, according to Glenview authorities.
The unidentified youth was found unresponsive at the park district pool, 2239 Fir St., around 2:30 p.m. Lifeguards immediately began administering CPR before paramedics arrived at the scene, according to Glenview Park District officials.
“It was disturbing, sickening, to see this happening to a little kid,” witness Kelly Nicoli, 14, told CBS 2. Nicoli was having a birthday party at the pool.
The victim was taken to Glenbrook Hospital, 2100 Pfingsten Rd., where he was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m., CBS 2 reports.
“We are all very saddened, and our thoughts and prayers go out to this little boy’s family,” Glenview Park District Executive Director Chuck Balling said in a press release Friday night. “This is a tragedy for the family and for the entire community.”
Following the incident, the pool was closed immediately and will remain closed on Saturday, June 16 as the Glenview Police Department, in cooperation with the Glenview Park District, completes an investigation.
