County Clerk: Early Voting Totals Rising

Thousands of suburban Cook residents take advantage at ballot boxes. Today is your last chance to vote early.

Last call! Today is your final chance to vote early in the April 5 consolidated elections.

"Local officials affect lives a great deal, so voter participation is crucial," Cook County Clerk David Orr said in a statement. "Government functions better when more people are heard."

Election officials in Cook County say participation in early voting has been on the upswing, with thousands of suburban residents turning out to cast early ballots and avoid long waits on April 5.

On Monday, 1,970 voters cast ballot early making March 28 the highest single-day turnout this election season, officials said.

Glenview Village Hall is clocking in with about 375 early voters, according to Cook County Clerk David Orr's website

If you plan to vote before polls close tonight at 5 p.m., voters are required to present election officials with "valid identification" before receiving a ballot. According to the clerk's office, valid forms of ID include a current driver's license, state-issued ID card or another government-issued ID with a photograph.

Thanks to touch screens that store different ballot types, registered voters can visit any one of suburban Cook County's 43 early voting locations, which you can find here. But the closest locations for local voters include:

  • Skokie Courthouse, 5600 W. Old Orchard Road in Skokie
