Problem with GOP politicians ?? they are like a gang on the south side of Chicago..they all must agree on the same thing or someone will get shot if they don't go alone with the majority.. they are afraid to disagree with each other....i hope when Obama try to get amnesty to 25 million illegals , i hope all GOP politicians stick together and say no...illegals will vote democrat if they become citizens.

Dold is not a moderate Republican. He is more of a tea party Republican and we do not need him representing the 10th congressional district in the no nothing Congress.

Any vote for tax cuts is good, although this whole issue of voting for a 60 day tax cut is ridiculous. Is the Federal government now working on a 2 month fiscal time frame? I seem to remember that one of the reasons people don't trust corporations is that CEO's only think for the short term. Well look how far into the future our bureaucrats are thinking.

It was easy to live with and cross party lines to vote for John Porter as our Congressman. John was heavily involved in our district and always seemed to be a welcome source of dependable resource-oriented assistance for our local governing bodies. Kirk took it up to a 50,000 feet detachment, like he was afraid and distrustful of his constituents (perhaps because he knew he wasn't honest with us all along). Kirk, in case you missed it, was one of less than a dozen GOP senators who voted against the tax cut this week, and dolt automatically licked Kirk's boots and fetched along.

Congressman Dold has in fact been a facelss, useless (dolt) insofar as having any impact on the best interests of this district other than to pander us for his re-election, and I'll thank you to have a Merry Christmas.

I've given Mr. Dold an opportunity to prove his desire to work for his District by denouncing his allegiance to Grover Norquist. Despite his verbalization that he wants to compromise in Washington, he (as far as I know) continues to refuse to take back his pledge. It is dissapointing to have a representative in Washington with one hand tied behind his back via his commitment to Grover Norquist. The District should come first!

I'm sure we'll be hearing plenty of your talking points as soon as Mr. Rove's Super PAC hits the air waves.

Mr Dold should represent the District with an open mind to solutions that may include revenue increases. An open mind can't exist until he denounces his allegiance to Grover Norquist. It's a reasonable request. He does not have to raise revenue, just be able to consider it. As it stands, he can't vote for tax reform that includes any revenue increases.

If you live in Deerfield, our taxes were increased...library, village, school board all raised our taxes. I can't think of many people who are happy about it...but you are getting a good education for your kids, a rebuilt library and our snow will get plowed this year. Each entity carefully considered their decision. If Mr Dold had been on any of these boards he would have been unable to vote for the increase. Is that really what you want? Despite all the need presented, he would have voted no...to the schools, no to the village, no the library. Personally, I doubt I would have voted for all of the increases, but I'm sure parents, teachers and others would appreciate my being open minded to consider it. Dold can't do that in Congress now, he must vote no. I want more.

I suggest that as you mature, you may want to learn to pull yourself up by the bootstraps, and learn to read what you write and interpret that objectively as if you were an articulate critic of yourself. A little less "chicken little" on your part will reverse the image you portray as if you were the south end of a mule headed north.

"Let's take back our country", and "Let's take back our state"! Unfortunately tea party supporters and other extreme wingers (on both sides) don't understand that the primary political objective is to start your "revolution" by taking back control of the bloated taxing bodies that abuse us in our own back yards. I view the Nordquist pledge as a white herring symbol of backyard hypocrisy. dolt has all but abandoned local governing bodies in the district.

My observation is people have a liking to one source of news, a specific TV network or print news source. I also notice, over the years talking with friends, family, neighbors, the ones that like and watch/read on a very regular basis the more conservative higher readership and viewership outlets (Fox, WSJ, Talk radio) tend to also watch and read sources that are of more liberal stance (MSNBC, NYT, NPR) on a semi-regilar basis. Individuals that like watch/read on a very regular basis the more liberal outlets tend to totally ignore the more conservative outlets. When I ask someone that loves MSNBC the last time they listened to Rush Limbaugh or watched Fox News they respond with never. And usually a bigot or racist card is played as well followed by complete surprise of where I get my news. I like to be well rounded, so each time I watch Fox, CNN, MSNBC, read the NYT,the WSJ, or the Economists, MY conservative/libertarian principals just get stronger. Watch and read it all and then you can be yourself - not a conservative talking point or a liberal talking point but an intelligent productive American. God Bless, and Merry Christmas to y'all!

Abby, you seem to face a challenge when it comes to what you think other people are thinking. I feel compassion towards people who describe their family upbringing as you have. There are so many more important things in life after God and family. If political persuasion was really number 3 priority in your family, then its small wonder you would encounter difficulties with...education for example...tolerance of others' points-of-view...and service to community and country.

I hope you aren't insinuating that I am uneducated, or that education was not a priority in my family because that definitely was not the case. Maybe I did not explain myself--despite being Democrats, my family was very conservative and family oriented, but there was an allegiance to the Democrat party that I had difficulty with after being out in the real world on my own. Completing our education and being successful was expected of each of my siblings and I, but for the family as a whole--it was God, family and the Democrat party. Conversations around the dinner table included school, our activities, family, and whatever was the latest political fallout from those "damn Republicans." I am one of those "damn Republicans" now and never been happier with that choice.

As for service to community and country, does my mother's work with Catholic Charities or my brother's 24 year commitment to the military count?
