Nurses at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge didn't have to wait long after the midnight hour for the first baby of 2013 to arrive.
At 12:23 a.m., Aileen Herrera delivered a baby girl, with dad Eduardo Jimenez at her side. The couple is from Arlington Heights.
She weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces and is 18 inches long, and she joins two older sisters.
In 2012, 4,011 babies were delivered at the hospital, according to a statement.
