First Indian Restaurant Opens In Glenview
The new restaurant, Turmeric, is located at 2300 Lehigh Ave.
Turmeric is a leafy, green plant, related to ginger, whose root is commonly used as a spice in curries and other Asian foods. Turmeric is also the first Indian restaurant to open in Glenview, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The restaurant was started by Sasikala Paidi and her brother Sarath Jayaraman, the Chicago Tribune reports, who came to the U.S. from India in the 1990s to attend school and find jobs.
The restaurant servies a variety of dishes demonstrating the different culinary styles of North and South Indian, according to Turmeric's website.

I like Indian people and hope that they have HUGE success in their new business... However, after listening to numerous Comedians talk about Indian food, I will take a pass...

Raised good old white bread USA caucasian. Surprise - Indian food is yummy. Like anything that we are not used to .... you have to try it! My husband held out for years and now he is hooked.
Try some "butter chicken", you too will have the pleasure of your taste buds enjoying our luck in this great country; the best food from everywhere. Go to a buffet first so you can try different dishes. PS Comedians make fun of many topics. Don't follow their jokes as life rules. You will miss out. Congratulations to this new restaurant. We will check you out.

We had the buffet lunch here today and enjoyed it. We love Indian/ Nepali food and our go to Indian restaurant is Himalaya on Golf Road just east of Milwaukee. Their menu is a bit more extensive and service a little more attentive, but they've been there for years. Turmeric is new and perhaps has a few kinks to work out, but all in all a good dining experience.
Nice people running the place. Pleasant young waiter.
Happy to have them in the Glen. Wishing them much success.

Thanks for all the support we have been getting from the local community. Without your support, we will not know to spell success. Thank you.
