Glenbrook Teacher With Meningococcal Disease Dies

Public health, school officials note there is no reason for concern.

District 225’s Glenbrook North High School is mourning Thursday's death of a 41-year-old special education teacher, Norhtbrook Patch reports

A notice posted Thursday on the GBN website notes that a teacher had recently been diagnosed with Neisseria meningitidis, also known as meningococcal disease, and was receiving the appropriate treatment at a local hospital. (Click on the PDF at the right to read the notice.)

An e-mail sent from the school district noted that GBN special education teacher Jodi Polikov passed away on May 17, but District 225 officials declined to draw any connection between her death and what she died of. Officials further stated that medical privacy laws precluded them from making the connection.
