Glenview Hot Dogs Join Vienna Beef Hall of Fame

The Works at 2676 Golf Rd. has been in business since 1978.

The Works in Glenview serves some top dogs.

On Tuesday, the small Gold Rd. restaurant joined the Vienna Beef Hall of Fame after more than 30 years of service, the Journal & Topics reports.

I’ve been here since 1978,” owner Andrew Koliopoulos told the Journal & Topics. “We’ve had three generations of customers come to this location.”

Vienna has been inducting Chicago-area hot dog joints into a hall of fame since 2006 based on customer satisfaction, community service and the sale of Vienna Beef products, the Glenview Announcements reports.

“We look at a restaurant’s longevity. The National Restaurant Association has said seven years of a successful restaurant is real good,” Vienna Beef vice president and Northbrook resident Bob Schwartz told the Glenview Announcements. People come into the good hot stands and are made to feel special in good times and bad times."

More than 60 Chicago-area hot dog joints, in service anywhere between 20 and 50 years, have been inducted into the Vienna Beef Hall of Fame, according to the Vienna Beef website.

The Works joins Northbrook's Little Louie's as an inductee.
