Eventually in order to control the type vandalism and theft recounted in these stories. Public punishments. For instance "canings" etc. will be necessary. Politically incorrect? Sure. For now! But without severe and quick public punishments society will become evermore unsafe. Singapore uses these punishments and one of the safest places on earth to live

Fortunately, this "blame society for criminals behavior" is limited to larger urban areas. In more rural communities a "caning" or being caught by police would be a light punishment by comparison to being caught by the intended victim. Chicago is a perfect example of what happens when you allow career criminals to walk the streets and prosecute cops and citizens that use force to protect themselves. It's almost anarchy there now and it will eventually spill over into neighboring communities with even fewer police resources.

matt.....initiate those punishments here and the crime rate will go down very fast indeed....wont even need to lock the house ;) leave your keysin the care....no problem! and eventually....people will demand this type action.
