What Business Should Move Into 1009 Waukegan Road?
What kind of new business would you like to see at the former Koenig & Strey office building?
At the corner of Waukegan Rd. and Glenview Rd., on the east side of downtown Glenview, sits a vacant building that used to be a real estate office.
The site at 1009 Waukegan Rd. is probably too small for a Walmart, but could be the perfect size for a visionary entrepreneur or a business newcomer dreaming of opening their first store.
This large, freestanding building with attached parking lot is only a few blocks from multiple residential areas, the Glenview library and all of downtown's dining options.
What kind of business would you like to see fill the void at Glenview Rd. and Waukegan Rd.? Maybe it's a new lazer tag arena or a new shoe store? Share your visions in the comments!

I still don't understand how a great restaurant like Orange couldn't make it in downtown Glenview. Let's be honest, downtown needs a serious infusion of after hours night life. Think downtown Naperville, Elmhurst, or even what is going on with our neighbor to the east, Wilmette. They are opening up little restaurants and bar & grills.

Turn downtown into a Theater Resturant area like so many Chicago areas. Look at the 1200 block of Belmont with 5 theaters and eating places. Oil Lamp and the updated Glenview House is a goof start.. This site is perfect for a snack shop with great food. We would support it.

All previous comments are great..As a 45 yr Glenview resident, I would love that..restaurants that are reasonable and great food..Entertainment type nite life..We donot have to roll up the streets at 9 pm..Look at Glen..What a gret place and we could use more activity like the Glen.

I would love to see Spiro's Deli and a Dry Cleaners move there... Maybe McGrath Audi should put a few cars there and pay the landlord a percentage of the profits from sales... Either way, the owner of the property better think of something fast, as those property taxes are going to continue to go UP - UP - UP !!!!!!

I don't agree with the other posters, except for Dan in his frustration with the failure of Orange, a great restaurant. Orange and other downtown restaurants have shown that dining is the recipe for failure. I don't think the Glen provides a good example either; most of the Glen closes by 9 PM.
I would like to see some boutique shops, such as imported food from Europe, more coffee shops like Caribou, a small produce market, a men's clothing store. If it is possible for a good brunch place to thrive in downtown Glenview, I really do miss Orange.
