Great Escape: Makeup Application With a Hollywood Pro

Get your makeup done by a professional and learn how you can look your best.

She’s done makeup application for stars like Kelly Preston, Courtney Cox, Lara Flynn Boyle and Nicolette Sheridan. And now, makeup artist Laura Gorman can do yours! Make a great escape into her Glenview studio and she’ll make you look like you belong on the red carpet in no time!

“Makeup is like fashion,” said Gorman, who worked for Estee Lauder before she became a makeup artist to the stars. “It’s fun and can be trendy.”

Gorman, who has worked on multiple Hollywood film sets said that most people get their hair done for a special event because they don’t know how to do it. “The same goes for makeup,” she said. “You should have your hair and your makeup done, and the only thing you should have to do is slip on the dress.”

And the mother of three understands what women of all ages need.

“As we age, everything kind of fades, your features change," she said. “So you have to recreate what you had. It shouldn’t be ‘I love your eye shadow,’ it should be, ‘Your eyes look really pretty.’”

The first thing Gorman will do is assess your face and then ask about your lifestyle and what’s important to you, as far as the way you want to look. Often times, clients bring in the makeup they’re currently using and she gives them her opinion as to which products work and which need replaced.

Gorman charges $65 for a makeup application, and recommends products you can purchase, although there’s no obligation.

She often takes before and after pictures and says people can’t believe the difference.

“They hug me when they’re leaving,” she said, “They say, ‘Thank you! I’ve never looked this good!’”

Laura Gorman Cosmetics is located in On Stage Salon, 654 Waukegan Road.
