Ken Kraus welcomes runners to the 14th annual Tall Trees Turkey Trot to benefit Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook. Kraus started the run in the mid-1990’s and has been instrumental in organizing the 5k every subsequent year.

The 14th annual Tall Trees Turkey Trot to benefit Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook was held Thanksgiving morning in the Tall Trees neighborhood of Glenview. The 2009 race saw $11,700 raised for the organization.

When Ken Kraus launched the Tall Trees Turkey Trot 14 years ago, roughly 20 people showed up. This year, under cloudy skies and misty rain, approximately 600 runners toed the line in the 5k annual race.

The trot benefits Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook, a local organization dedicated to the mental health, character development and physical well-being of local children and families. Held in the Tall Trees neighborhood of Glenview, the race helps support afterschool programs, family counseling, study buddies and a holiday gift service, among other programs. Last year's run earned $11,700 in support of the Youth organization.
