A Lake Bluff man and Cary middle school special education teacher is one of the survivors of the Colorado movie theater shooting Thursday that left 12 people dead and dozens injured, according to a story on Pioneer Local.
Steve Ostergaard was chaperoning 11 students at a national stutterers conference in Colorado and took them to see “The Dark Knight Rises” at Aurora’s Century Theater Thursday, the newspaper reported. One was hit by a bullet.
Larimer, a graduate of Crystal Lake South High School, was a member of the U.S. Navy and went to the showing with friends. According to several reports, there were five military personnel inside the theater.
