Olympic Trials Update: Olivia Smoliga Won’t Advance to 100-Meter Freestyle Finals

The Glenview swim star and rising Glenbrook South senior placed 4th in the women’s backstroke finals on Wednesday. She will next swim in Sunday's’s 50-meter freestyle prelims.

 

Glenview’s Olivia Smoliga, 17, finished 48th overall (56.59) in today’s 100-meter freestyle prelimineraries in Omaha, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The rising Glenbrook South senior placed 4th in the women’s backstroke finals Wednesday, missing a spot as an Olympic qualifier by only a few seconds.

Smoliga will next compete in the 50-meter freestyle beginning Sunday. She won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles at last season's state meet.
