On Friday, Oct. 26, District 34 schools Lyon and Pleasant Ridge hosted their 6th Annual International Night.
Students and families discovered the cultures of Afrika, Germany/Austria, Greece, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Pakistan/India, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Spain and Ukraine, through the various countries' food, music and clothing.
Volunteers from Glenbrook South Interact helped the elementary students make foreign crafts. Performers, including a flamenco dancer, Sheila Tully Irish Dancers, GBS Desi Indian dancers and taekwondo martial arts master and students, all exhibited their culture through music, dance and movement.
The hands-on, interactive event taught kids the differences and similarities between all of our cultures.
