Schneider, Dold Debating About Debates
Congressman Dold and challenger Brad Schneider will meet four times before Nov. 6 election. The only joint appearance in the 10th District is sponsored by the League of Women Voters and Patch. Three will be televised from Chicago.
Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) and his Democratic challenger, Brad Schneider of Deerfield, are scheduled to debate each other four times next month in advance of the Nov. 6 general election but for now they are debating about the debates.
The only time Schneider and Dold will meet face to face within the boundaries of the 10th Congressional District is at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at Lake Forest High School. The forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Lake Forest, Deerfield and Highland Park as well as Patch.

Also that day, they will appear together at 10:30 a.m. on WLS Television under the sponsorship of the League of Women Voters of Illinois. Dold and Schneider will meet on Fox News Chicago at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 21 and at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 on Channel 11’s Chicago Tonight.
As soon as Schneider’s campaign released the schedule Sept. 13, the Dold campaign complained Schneider was avoiding a number of additional possibilities to debate Dold both in the 10th District and elsewhere.
"It's disappointing that our opponent would refuse so many opportunities to engage Congressman Dold in live dialogue," Dold campaign spokesperson John McGovern said in a release. "Congressman Dold is anxious to contrast his record in Congress with his opponent's agenda."
According to McGovern, Schneider has elected not to take advantage of opportunities to discuss the issues with Dold in forums sponsored by AARP, To Protect Our Heritage, Stevenson High School, the League of Women Voters of "Round Lake, Northbrook Community Synagogue, the North Shore Chamber of Commerce and the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.
Schneider spokesperson Staci McCabe told Patch the campaign received the North Chicago invitation today. She did not indicate whether Schneider would or would not appear. She was also critical of Dold’s refusal to participate in what she terms the area’s best attended debate.
“It's disappointing that Dold, who missed the largest forum held within the district two years ago to be on the Sean Hannity show, again declined to attend this year's largest forum," McCabe said. She was referring to the candidate forum Oct. 15 at Congregation B’nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim (BJBE) in Deerfield sponsored by 24 Jewish organizations.
According to McGovern, Dold declined the BJBE debate because of an inability to come to an agreement with the organizers on format. He made it clear Dold had agreed to seven others and Schneider turned down or not yet accepted invitations.
"The Dold campaign declined only one forum (BJBE) and that was due to not being able to come to an agreement with the organizers on an acceptable format for the event,” McGovern said to Patch today. “Brad Schneider even ducked an AARP debate which has traditionally been a well attended debate for seniors in the 10th District."

Dold doesn't want to debate because he has a difficult time putting 4 words together to form a coherent and cohesive sentence.

Nice to see Schneider ducking local debates. After watching the extended Chicago Tribune grilling he and Dold received on their website which ran over 90 minutes, I can understand why Schneider wants to limits debates.

The only one ducking anything is you and your "local" candidates ducking questions about how they will balance the budget. Still only vauge references to repealing tax increases and pension reform. Not much meat on those bones, Atsaves! Do you honestly think bitching about Democrats in Springfield is enough to get Shaw and Friedman elected? Dream on!

Walter White, last I heard Dold and Schneider were running for the right to represent us in Washington, D.C. Not Springfield, IL. Hopefully this fact will end your confusion. I also notice the local Democratic candidates seem to be ducking debates with Republican candidates for the Springfield offices, most notably Julie Morrison. But if you are happy with the rapidly deteriorating financial condition of the State of Illinois, feel free to continue to vote for Democrats to represent you in Springfield. It is true I'm not happy about what is going on in Springfield. Can anyone be happy about it? (Other than you, of course!)

The only moral choice is to abstain from voting. Withhold your sanction of a system that presents routinely the evil of two lessers as your choice.

Fine Guido... using your logic we end up with more Democrats and another Obama term. I think you should be a little more pragmatic. From your comments, it appears you believe in the constitution and general conservative principles. You would see better results by voting Republican and trying to change the party from within to be more conservative/liberaterian. Our choice in the election is a Obama who will march us very quickly over the cliff or Romney who may be going to the same place but at a slower pace and at least there is an outside chance we can sway his decisions to be more in line with constitutional/conservatism.. At least a chance. With Obama, you get four more years of an economic illiterate destroying our country. Chose sides and participate pal

"Fine Guido... using your logic we end up with more Democrats and another Obama term."
Using my logic would mean zero votes for anyone.
"From your comments, it appears you believe in the constitution and general conservative principles."
I don't know about that. Contemporary conservatism is too coercive and violent for my tastes. As for the constitution, I'll go to great lengths to point out Total State abuses of the document by both War Party factions. However, ultimately, I take the view of Lysander Spooner:
"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist."

I've seen this episode. Free people are Charlie Brown and the GOP represents Lucy van Pelt. As soon as poor Charles goes to kick the small government football, the forked-tongue Lucy pulls it away.

Take it easy guy, I have chosen. I have chosen to reject coercive violence, the only moral choice. One cannot claim to be a moral person while inflicting their chosen flavor of violence at the polls.

Sheldon Adelson, Romney's uber-billionaire casino owner and financial backer, pledged to give Romney $100 million -- or "whatever it takes" -- to defeat Obama.
Do you know why???
As Bill Clinton reminded us, sometimes the answer is as simple as arithmetic. So let's do the math:
According to a new report from the Center for American Progress Action Fund, Adelson will get $2 billion in tax savings from Romney in return for his support. And it will be paid for by every taxpayer reading this blog, so pass the word QUICKLY.
If Obama wins, everyone pays their fair share of taxes...including Mr. Adelson!
Tell me...
WHICH ONE IS MORE FAIR FOR AMERICAN FAMILIES?
WHICH ONE CAN YOU AFFORD?
Americans cannot afford to live the Romney-Ryan lifestyle without having the same personal wealth.

I think it's down right pathetic that Schneider has decline seven debates. This election is about the issues and Brad Schneider is afraid to talk about them. If he's too scared to debate how would he actually be able to get things done in Washington? We need a real man like Robert Dold in Congress.

I hope Dold won't be asked why did he bring back the wages of his employees at Rose Pest Solutions to the 2010 levels...was he scared those employees might join other lawsuits in Court now? That's right...Dold cut the pay of his serfs @ Rose Pest (on his birthday no less...he gave himself a present) and stayed fast until spit in the face. Then he got scared and listened to his lawyers and fired away 2 hush-money checks to the ex-employee with the biggest mouth and brought back the wages to the rest of his, now-lucky, serfes. Dold doesn't do what is right, he does what his lawyer tells him to do. Is this who you want to represent you?

@ Guido: "Since he's probably making 2010 money or worse, I don't see a problem here." You don't see anything with "he had to cut the pay" but raised them as soon as noise got too loud (lawyers got involved) ? What happened with the "had to cut pay?" He RAISED the wages now, with election and lawyers, but rest assured, he will cut them again as soon as spotlight is off him. He runs a plantation not a business (no overtime pay...screw the labor laws) but again, you won't see a problem there either. I hope Democrats clean the floor with Republicans this election...someone needs to stop the greedy bastards who can't live on a few millions per year so they need to shortchange their employees then, as lawyers show up...oops...money is there suddenly, "here's the check and we thank you for bringing the issue to our atention" hahahhha. Guido, I mean Richard, you and the other Mitt followers like Dold don't give a rip about other people, just business. The 47% they don't care about are our parents and other relatives, mostly seniors, students and lower income workers. Mitt payed lower tax rates than most of us. Dold probably pays low taxes on his trust fund....but not income taxes. Did you know soldiers fighting overseas also don't pay income taxes? Mitt apparently does not. Patch should have the journalistic integrity to investigate the facts in this article: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/09/21/dem-candidate-brad-schneider-americas-smallest-small-businessman.
If, as it claims, Brad Schneider made no money from his small business, which he cites as a qualification for serving in Congress, the voters of the Tenth District need to know. I checked out Cadence Consulting's website (cadence-strategy.com) and it seems like the company really does nothing. No phone number or email address? No employees? No listed clients? Only one significant issue matters in the Presidential election since the new and illegal 60 vote Senate will dam up all legislation and make gridlock a favorite Washington past time. Filibuster is not mentioned in the Constitution nor is abortion, god or gun. The Senators are highly paid for doing nothing. Yet, the single concern American families will be impacted by from Obama's victory is the Supreme Court appointee for Mrs. Ginsburg. Obama will be able to replace her with a lawyer who has a brain and a heart. Women will not have to live under the tyranny of forced carry-to term unwanted possibly raped induced and/or incest forced pregnancies. Also, no governmental official will be able to force women to lay down and bear and pay for an ultrasonic wand forced up their private parts like the one suggested in Virginia. No governmental official will hold power over women. Vote Democratic, Vote Obama. Romney is toast, read fivethirtyeight.
