Trader Joe's Recalls Nearly 5,000 Pounds of Chicken

The national grocery store chain is pulling Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice off the shelves over a Listeria risk.

Trader Joe's has announced a recall of about 4,865 pounds of its frozen dish, Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice, over concerns the item might be contaminated with Listeria, the Huffington Post reports.

According to the L.A. Times, the chicken dish was produced at the Canadian company Aliya's, which issued the voluntary recall.

Though it seems seems the chicken did not reach Illinois, the recalled item was sold across the United States, in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington D.C., according to CNN.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Listeria can cause hospitalization or death, and it is unusally dangerous because the bacteria can grow in a refrigerator and spread to nearby food.

THAT CHICKEN WILL PROBABLY BE SOAKED IN A HEAVILY CHLORINATED WATER, KILLING OFF ALL THE BACTERIA, AND THEN BEING SOLD TO THE PRISONS... DON'T LAUGH, BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE (I READ IT IN THE NEWSPAPER BACK IN 1999 OR 2000).
