Wait! This may be a clue!

A Northfield resident called police to report that a vehicle struck a stop sign at a high rate of speed about 4 a.m. As the witness was on the phone, the vehicle drove away but left behind a license plate.

Bad apple
Police stopped a driver in Skokie for having expired license plates. Police said they discovered that the driver had a cored out apple used to smoke marijuana.

One bummed sandwich thief

A retail employee in Northfield said she brought her wallet in a plastic bag to work with her so she could have it nearby. Her lunch that day was in an identical plastic bag, and after she went on break she brought the bag of food back to the register instead of the bag with the wallet. By the time she realized her mistake, the wallet was gone.

Deep-rooted crime spree

Two Japanese maple trees, valued at $460 total, were stolen from a Wilmette home.

Leggo my Lego

A Lego box set was stolen from a Winnetka store.

An unhappy ending

A Wheeling man had his massage cut short after police said he asked a Skokie masseuse for an inappropriate favor and exposed himself. The worker demanded that the man leave, the report said. The alleged suspect then went on to leave $40 on the counter and left the business.

When police questioned the man he denied any wrongdoing, stating he was confused why his massage ended abruptly.
