VIDEO Glenview National 9 Celebrates 10th Anniversary with a 'Par-Tee'

Complete with trick shots, free food and jazz music, the Glenview National 9 held a party July 10 to thank the community for its support.

For Glenview residents coming into the new millennium, one golf course was not enough. So the Park District went to work, creating a new nine-hole course for golfers all over the North Shore to play.

On Sunday afternoon, the Glenview National 9 Golf Club celebrated its 10th anniversary by hosting a party with free food and entertainment.

“Today’s celebration is mainly to say thank you to the community for supporting us for the first ten years and making it what it is today: a fantastic facility for golfers to spend quality time and enjoy the game of golf,” said Blake Manhart, Manager of Golf Operations at the National 9 Golf Club.

Many golfers competed in the Glenview National 9’s scramble tournament and the Park District recognized the course’s most loyal players with commemorative flags.

Golf trick shot artist Peter Longo performed three different shows throughout the day and kids could play video games on a Nintendo Wii or dabble in some arts and crafts.

As the Glenview National 9 moves into its second decade, the Park District continues to explore options in hopes of attracting more people to the course. A permanent clubhouse – complete with paddle tennis courts – has been talked about and they’ve built a good relationship with Kinetic Performance Center, a golf academy in Glenview.

“Our focus here is to develop innovative programming to start that all over again especially for junior golfers and young athletes,” Manhart said.
