YMCA Hosts Family Halloween Party
Sunday's event expected to draw more than 1,000 people
There is plenty of frightful fun to be had this weekend at the North Suburban YMCA.
Sunday, the YMCA will host its 5th annual Halloween party, which usually draws between 1,000 and 1,500 guests – many of whom come in costume.
“The Halloween Party always blows people away,” said Sari Glazebrook, NSYMCA Membership Director. “Last year we had well over 1800 guests come through the door, and our goal is for every person to have an outstanding time. We’re all hard at work getting ready to surprise people with our best Halloween party yet.”
For the event, the entire YMCA, 2705 Techny Road, Northbrook, will be transformed into a Halloween haven.
There will be returning Halloween favorites from previous years at the party, including the spine tingling Spooky Pool Boat Ride.
For those looking for something a little tamer, there will be indoor trick-or-treating, which beats going door to door in the cold.
There also will be inflatable bouncy houses and obstacle courses, seasonal art projects, a DJ dance party, costume contests and two haunted houses.
One of the houses will be kid-friendly, and the other extra-creepy and only for the daring.
To capture memories of your fun day, there will be complimentary photo booths that will give each family a souvenir.
If you get hungry while at the party, there will be food and drinks for sale.
To pull off an event of this size, the YMCA staff pitches in to ensure the party is a success.
They set up the massive decorations, and guide trembling souls through the haunted house.
The party runs from 2 to 6 p.m., with early access for families of special needs children between 1 and 2 p.m.
Admission to the party is free for YMCA members, and $10 per family for non-members.
