DEERFIELD, IL – Democratic candidate for State Senate is receiving support from her mentor, former Republican Congressman John Porter.
"John Porter set an example that all elected officials should strive for," Morrison said. "I intend to live up to Congressman Porter's standards and articulately represent everyone in the 29th District regardless of party affiliation."
Congressman Jon Porter represented the 10th Congressional District from 1980 until 2001. Julie Morrison served on a member of Porter's staff from 1992- 2001. The Morrison campaign has sent out a letter of support from Congressman Porter to voters in the 29th District.
In the letter, Congressman Porter says, "Julie's approach to public service is the same as mine. Her experience in serving the people of West Deerfield Township for the last 15 years as their Supervisor, confirms her commitment to bring a moderate, bipartisan approach to service in Springfield."
Also according to Porter, "In my judgment, Julie has all the makings in terms of background, experience, and service to make an outstanding member of the Illinois Senate."
