DESCRIPTION:Oil Lamp Theater&nbsp\;in Glenview presents Three Viewings\,
a dark comedic trilogy of interrelated monologues set in a mid-western f
uneral parlor. This production will run until February 10th.&nbsp\;&nbsp
\;\nThese witty and poignant tales penned by Jeffrey Hatcher explore in
surprising and sensitive ways how the fragile threads of love\, money an
d compassion can shape human relationships. This unusual night of theate
r will draw audiences along with three characters as they each share the
ir revelations about how the bonds of love can transcend loss.\nThe firs
 t story\, &ldquo\;Tell Tale\,&rdquo\; introduces Emil (Joe Page)\, a shy
and love-sick funeral director who struggles to control his desperate p
assion for a local businesswoman. The object of Emil&rsquo\;s affection
has discovered the lucrative advantages of handing out business cards fo
r her real estate business during services at Emil&rsquo\;s mortuary. Sh
e is\, however\, unaware of his unrequited adoration. Emil sruggles to g
ive voice to his unspoken passion\, but his private reveries receive an
unexpected jolt that shakes his buttoned-down world to the core.\nIn &ld
quo\;The Thief of Tears&rdquo\; we meet Mac (Jasmine Ryan)\, a beautiful
\, tough-talking hustler who makes her living by stealing jewelry from c
orpses. The death of her wealthy grandmother provides Mac with an opport
unity to settle scores &ndash\; but as she approaches the large diamond
 ring on her grandmother&rsquo\;s finger\, she discovers that she&rsquo\;
s in for a lot more than she bargained for.\n&nbsp\;&ldquo\;Thirteen Thi
ngs About Ed Carpolotti&rdquo\; offers the story of Virginia (June Mille
r)\, a grieving widow\, who discovers that she must not only re-order he
r own life\, but also cope with the messy business dealings of&nbsp\;her
  late husband. Ed\, we learn\, was &ldquo\;a real wheeler-dealer\,&rdquo
\; who had amassed a staggering debt and left his wife to ponder &ldquo\
;the sin of failure &ndash\; the secular sin that knows no religion.&rdq
 uo\; After a stunning surprise\, Virginia provides a final\, haunting im
age of tenderness and reveals both the power and magic of love.\nGretche
