Traffic Study: Church, Homes Will Generate 3,724 Extra Trips On Sundays

Village officials considered traffic impacts from a proposed development of 171 homes and Willow Creek Community Church at Shermer Road and West Lake Avenue.

A traffic study by the developer of a megachurch and 171 homes near the Glen estimates that the two properties will generate 3,724 extra trips on Sundays, according to Glenview Announcements.

Barrington-based Willow Creek Community Church and residential developer Edward R. James Partners purchased one of the last available Glenview Naval Air Station parcels from the village this spring, and are currently going through the planned development process. Traffic issues were discussed in the most recent meeting, on Tuesday, and have been a hot topic for neighbors for months.
“How do we get in and out? What about emergency vehicles? This matters to us and to our families,” said Michael Dean, president of Regency of The Glen Homeowners Association, according to the Announcements.

Headquartered in Barrington, Willow Creek Community Church is planning to build a 75,000 square-foot facility that will have capacity for 1,500 people per service.
