Local Resident Leads Education at Illinois Currency Exchange Charitable Foundation Back 2 School Kickoff

The Illinois Currency Exchange Charitable Foundation (ICECF) kicked off its 9th annual Back 2 School initiative on June 12.   Daniella Guzman and Stefan Holt of NBC5 served as emcees at the luncheon event held at Galleria Marchetti.  Local Glenview resident Abby Hans serves as President of the charity.

The largest program of its kind in Illinois, the 9th annual ICECF education initiative will provide free school supplies to 25,000 students in economic need in Chicago and across Illinois.  $100,000 was raised at the luncheon.

New initiatives to provide free school supplies to homeless families in Chicago and military families across Illinois were announced, with support from DFSS and Operation Homefront. Two college scholarships were given to high school seniors and three awards presented to local leaders in education, public service and corporate sponsorship.  Tim King, Founder and CEO of Urban Prep Academies in Englewood received the education award, presented by Abby Hans (pictured: Daniella Guzman, NBC5; Tim King, Urban Prep Academies; Abby Hans of Glenview and Stefan Holt, NBC5).  Hans was also interviewed by NBC5.
