Daniel Shmelevich, 28, appeared in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie Thursday, where he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

7. Car Accident Leads to DUI Arrest
A Mount Prospect man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after a car crash in the 4500 block of Lilac Avenue on Oct. 13, according to police. 

8. $90M Shopping Center Underway At Former Avon Site
Florida-based Regency Centers paid $10.1 million for the site on Oct. 7, then sold part of the property to a joint venture including Northfield developer Focus for $8.3 million.
