Glenview Getting $1M for Shermer Road Bike Path

The new 2-mile segment will connect several existing trails.

Glenview is getting $1,067,950 to build a two-mile off road bike path to connect several existing trails

The money is part of $52.7 million in community transportation funding that Gov. Pat Quinn recently announced. The funds, which are intended to encourage alternative transportation options, go toward bike paths, walking trails, historic preservation and streetscape beautification projects.

According to a press release from the governor’s office:

“This project involves construction of a 2-mile off-road path segment, which will be a continuation of the existing bike trail systems within Glenview and Northbrook. It will connect to the existing Techny Trail regional system, Centennial Trail along West Lake Avenue, the trail system along Willow Road in Northbrook, Metra Stations, The Glen Town Center, and downtown districts as well as to the future recognized bike trail system in Northbrook along Shermer Road.”
