Glenview Storm Stats: 2.89 Inches of Rain, 50 Flooded Basements

Dispatch received more than 250 calls in a single hour Monday night.

The following is from the Village of Glenview:

Glenview received 2.89 inches of rain in one hour during last night’s storms. Between 6 and 8 p.m., dispatch answered 307 calls, with 259 of them between 7 and 8 p.m. Flooding was extensive because of too much rain falling too fast. Patriot Boulevard from East Lake Avenue to Willow Road was flooded and impassable, and sections of Waukegan Road and East Lake Avenue also had high water. The water receded when the rain stopped.

Public Works crews checked on flooded streets and answered about 50 calls related to basement flooding.

The river level went up to 625.35 before starting to drop. Techny Basin did take on water but well within its limits. Interestingly, there was very little rain east of Harms Road.

As of 9:30 a.m. this morning, about 39 Glenview ComEd customers remained without power, primarily in the Central Parkway/George Court area and a small area on Sleepy Hollow Road. Because of the numerous outages in Niles, Park Ridge and Northbrook, power isn’t expected to be restored until early this afternoon.
