Glenview To Receive Mosquito Treatment After West Nile Discovery

Between Monday night and Tuesday morning, the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District will conduct targeted adult mosquito control operations in parts of Glenview.

The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District will be conducting targeted adult mosquito control operations in portions of Glenview between 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, and 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, weather permitting.  

The areas to be treated include: east of Harms Road, the Cole Park area, the area around Glenview and Wagner roads, the area around Waukegan Road and Chestnut Avenue and the area around Waukegan and Glenview roads, according to the Village of Glenview.

Most of Glenview, east of Pfingsten Road, is included in the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District . The area south of Central Road and west of Washington Road is included in the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District. The area west of Pfingsten Road between Central Road and Willow Road is covered by the Cook County Department of Public Health.

The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District found the first West Nile Virus positive mosquito pools in Glenview this year.

Two pools of mosquitos were collected in Glenview on July 8 and tested positive for West Nile. 

Residents are reminded to protect themselves by avoiding outdoor activity around dawn and dusk, covering exposed skin with loose-fitting, light-colored clothing and wearing repellent.

Residents should also check around their homes and eliminate potential mosquito breeding sources particularly any items that can hold water. If it can hold water, it can breed mosquitoes.
