New Year's Weekend...What's Open?

Glenview Patch has the scoop on places to party New Year's Eve and where to grab grub on the first day of the year.

There are a couple of New Year's scenarios that could befall you this weekend.

The first - nowhere to party or plans got cancelled at the last minute. What to do? The second - that rocking New Year's Eve party left your refrigerator empty and you're hungry.

So whether you need a place to ring in 2012 or you're bumbling around on Sunday, Jan. 1 looking for a place to grab a bite, here are a couple of places you can check out. For all restaurants, don't forget to call for reservations or more information.

New Year's Eve: Not only will there be New Year's Eve specials and a champagne toast a midnight, Mario's will also feature a live music line up:
pianist Robert Lieberman from 5 to 7 p.m. and The David Floodstrand Trio 7 to 10 p.m. There's no cover, but the cafe is asking that you support the musicians.
New Year's Day: Call for more information.

New Year's Eve: They're having a party. And you're invited. From 8 p.m. to close, there will be a DJ and New Year’s themed food and drink specials.
New Year's Day: Regular hours and regular menu mean that you can grab sushi from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. -- just like any other day.

New Year's Eve: Great food and classic rock will be available as the restaurant will be keeping its regular menu and hours on New Year's Eve. The bar will close at 1 a.m. and the kitchen closes at midnight.
New Year's Day
: Here's where you can get your first pizza, seafood, tacos, steak or any number of items of the year. Yard House opens at 11 a.m. and the kitchen closes at 11 p.m., but you can hang around the bar until midnight.

New Year's Eve: They say they're known for serving a "mouth-watering selection of steaks, chops, and seafood in a modern-day 1940s dinner club" and you will be able to try it for yourself. Wildfire will serve its dinner menu from noon to 11 p.m.
New Year's Day:
The restaurant will be open from noon to 9 p.m.

New Year's Eve: This full-service restaurant and bakery is open on New Year's Eve, regular hours and regular menu. You can enjoy lunch until 4 p.m. and dinner begins at 4 p.m. There will be also be a free champagne toast.
New Year's Day: Closed.

New Year's Eve: Who's in the mood for Mexican? Authentic cuisine is available at regular hours on New Year's Eve starting at 9 a.m. with breakfast.
New Year's Day: A regular menu with shortened hours, you can grab something to eat between 4 and 10 p.m.
