Union Pacific Begins Shermer Road Bridge Reconstruction

A new bridge over Shermer Road could be done by the end this year, though Shermer Road traffic won't resume until 2014.

Only about a week after the anniversary of last year's Union Pacific train derailment and bridge collapse that crushed a Glenview couple driving underneath, construction has begun on the new bridge over Shermer Road, the Glenview Announcements reports.
Construction could wrap up by the end of 2013, UP spokesperson Mark Davis recently told Patch.
The Illinois Department of Transportation expects vehicular traffic to resume on Shermer Road by September 2014according to the Glenview Announcements.
