Art Post Gallery Invites North Shore Creatives To Submit Botany Magnified Projects

The gallery's Spring Show in April will feature an exhibit showcasing about 80 canvases made by North Shore artists for this project.

The Art Post Gallery in Willow Festival invites 80 people to take part in a brand new showcase called Botany Magnified.

On Thursday, Feb. 28, starting at 10:30 a.m., artists can visit the gallery and pick up a blank, six inch by six inch, canvas. Only 80 canvases will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Those who pick up the canvas can create a work of art following the theme "Botany Magnified." Any style or medium is acceptable in the project, as long as it's created on the provided canvas.

Finished canvases must be submitted no later than 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11. Then on Thursday, April 18, a team of three North Shore interior designers will determine the top three finishers, each of whom will receive a $200 prize.

Winners will be announced at the Opening Night Wine & Cheese Reception at the Art Post Gallery’s Spring Show on Thursday April 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Appropriate submissions will be displayed for the duration of the show and available for purchase at a fixed price of $150, with all proceeds going to the artist.

Scott Bates from Art Post said at least one artist has already visited the gallery asking for canvases.

"We had a 90-year-old guy come in, said he had some great ideas and asked for three canvases," Bates said.

Alas, the man will have to return on the 28th if he still wants to participate.
