recognized artist
and Glenview  Resident will
exhibit her latest works, ‘Cityscapes: Portraits of the Second City,’ from January 4, 2012 through February 28, 2012 at the Glenview Public Library, 1930 Glenview Road, Glenview, Illinois.

Barrett’s work focuses on the Chicago urban
environments. She brings out the distinct personality, color, and bursting vitality of the neighborhoods.

She achieves her distinct style by first
emphasizing perspective and using thinned acrylic paint and fluid washes. Once her intent is established she switches to “sensuous oil paint” capturing past,
present and future.

The viewer of her paintings is drawn in by a
unique combination of her use of perspective, color and her passion for architectural forms and embellished facades.

She explains that her challenge is to capture “The energy, rhythm, and emotional feeling of the place I am painting” She adds, “I sense the solid foundation in this city. I hope to engage the viewer and share a moment of connection.”
