GLENVIEW, IL (DECEMBER 2011) – The Laughing Chameleon, the North Shore’s only full-service comedy, magic and variety club, is proud to announce the launch of Funny Monday Comedy Showcase. Kicking off January 2nd, the weekly ‘anything goes’ performances will begin at 8:30pm. With a $5 cover charge, door proceeds will be donated to headliners in an effort to support local artists working hard to make it and attract quality talent.
“As a worldwide entertainer, I recognize that Chicago is home to some of the funniest and most creative people,” says David Maas, half of the infamous David and Dania Duo, well known for their “Quick Change” act, and co-founder of The Laughing Chameleon. “The Laughing Chameleon is offering an outlet for anyone to let their inner entertainer out and show an audience what they’ve got.”
The phenomenon of ‘Open Mic Nights’ welcomes performers of all kinds from all different genres to venues all over the world. Traditionally recognized for poetry and book readings or live music, The Laughing Chameleon is changing it up with its Anything (Almost) Goes Comedy Showcase. Talents ranging from comedy, music and improvisation to magic and illusion are all welcome here. Performers must sign up in advance by sending an email to email@example.com, or through their listing on Badslava.com.
Entertainers can come early to warm up when doors open at 5:30pm. The Laughing Chameleon features full bar and small plate restaurant service (provided by the adjacent Flight Restaurant & Wine Bar). Some of the menu items, priced between $5 and $10, include:
• Herbed frites with smoked tomato aioli
• Flatbread with caramelized onions, cherry tomatoes, boursin, and mozzarella with or without braised chicken
• Ahi poke with soy-lemon-truffle vinaigrette, wonton chips, avocado, and wasabi hollandaise
• Crostini trio: ricotta & peperonata, ricotta & raisin-pine nut agrodolce, ricotta & grilled leeks with romesco
• Barbeque pork sandwich-Cajun spiced loin, coleslaw, crispy onions, buttery bun
• Blondie sundae with vanilla ice cream, run caramel sauce and valrhona chocolate sauce
• Brioche bread pudding with bourbon crème anglaise
A mixologist recently created drinks for The Laughing Chameleon which including the Happy Birthday To You, Speakeasy and the King of Rock & Roll which includes Jeremiah Sweet Tea, light rum, blue Curacao, pineapple, and crème de coconut in a in a Tiki style glass.
Audience members are sure to enjoy a night of food, drinks and talented performances from Chicagoland’s very own!

The Laughing Chameleon was co-founded by David and Dania Maas, well known for their “Quick Change” act, and business partners, Gary and Renee Walter. Located in The Glen Town Center, it is the North Shore’s prime destination for evening fun, food and entertainment. Offering the area’s only high caliber variety entertainment, comedy, illusionists and much more, The Laughing Chameleon features full bar and small plate restaurant service (provided by the adjacent Flight Restaurant & Wine Bar), as well as accommodations for up to 75 for private events and parties.
The Laughing Chameleon is opening in December 2011. It will be open Tuesday through Sunday, 5:30pm to 1:00am, and 5:30pm to 2:00am on Saturday on most weeks, with Mondays being open Comedy Showcase starting at 8:30pm. General admission tickets will be priced at $25 and up, with a two drink minimum. Annual memberships are also available and include exclusive access to special events and offers, first advance notices of performers and ability to buy up to four tickets per membership, priority seating/reserved tables with preferences taken as to where patron likes to sit, "Members only" specials, invitation to exclusive Meet & Greets to mingle with celebrity acts, and a 10% discount on all tickets purchased on-line..
