North Shore Jeopardy Champ's Streak Ends with 2nd Best Record

Julia Collins of Wilmette won 20 games in a row, netting more than $400,000.

The North Shore’s Julie Collins’ winning streak on Jeopardy has come to an end — but not before she broke all but one other champion’s record for most consecutive games won.

Collins’, who lives in Wilmette and grew up in Kenilworth, won 20 games in a row, losing her 21st on Monday, according to a press release from the show. She now holds the record for the second most consecutive wins. She’s surpassed only by Ken Jennings, who won 74 in a row.

Collins also goes home with $428,100 in winnings, the third-highest tally for regular season play. She will return next season for the Tournament of Champions.

Collins, 31, said she’s been watching the show since she was 8 or 9, according to a profile on her alma mater, Wellesley College's, website. "It was on mid-afternoon when I was growing up, so I could watch after school. I decided to actually try out when I found out there's an online test offered each January. I tried out five years ago and didn't get called, but went through the audition process again in 2013 and got called right before Christmas."
