Consumer Reports: Abt Rated Best Place to Buy Appliances Nationwide

The magazine surveyed more than 18,000 respondents across the country who said the Glenview retailer was their top choice over national chains including Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy and Sears.

Glenview electronics giant Abt has been named No. 1 for major appliance purchases by Consumer Reports magazine for the third consecutive year.

Despite having only a single brick-and-mortar location (plus an online store on Amazon.com), Abt earned high marks for price, selection and overall experience,  according to the magazine.

The national survey, which polled 18,000 people, showed deals matters most, followed by quality and solid customer service.

One survey respondent Marc Hamilton said he was first introduced to Abt through the company’s webstore and was impressed with the retailer’s offerings.

"I hadn't heard of Abt, but I did some online research and liked what I saw," Hamilton, who lives in the St. Louis area, told Consumer Reports.

Abt is scheduled to finish , adding mattresses, bedding products and security services to it’s product repertoire.

The retailer also and talk of a potential 150,000-square-foot second location on a 38.7-acre plot is in the works.
