Maybe you’re looking for a reasonably priced tablet for your digital kid. A rototiller for spring. Or dental services nearby. “If the thing you’re looking for exists in Glenview, you’ll find it on the Chamber of Commerce’s new website,” Betsy Baer, executive director of the Chamber, says. The site address is www.glenviewchamber.com.

Upgraded and reorganized, the Chamber’s online directory of 400+ businesses and organizations in Glenviewis easy to use. You can find businesses by name, browse by category, or search on key words. When available, entries include a map to get you to the on-the-ground address and a link to the organization’s website. It may be the most transparent and accessible list of Glenview goods and services available—a great tool for shopping local.

And to make shopping local even easier, businesses post exclusive offers throughout the site. Over the course of a year, these money-saving “Hot Deals” run the full spectrum of Glenview’s goods and services: haircuts, personal training, dog training, snow removal, restaurants and hotels, and more. With offers like that, plus proximity and quality, “Shopping local becomes very nearly mandatory,” says Baer.

Shopping local also means more time to spend with friends and family in your favorite town. Looking for something special to share? “The Chamber’s calendar lists all kinds of local events," says Baer. You'll find all the traditional ones, such as Summer Fest and the Holiday Parade, as well ribbon cuttings, in-store events, and special happenings at local museums and other venues. One example: the Chamber’s 90h birthday bash, on April22. "Craft beers, tasty treat from dozens of restaurants and caterers, great auction items. It's better than shopping local. It's splurging local."
