Glenview Eateries Make 'Best' List

The 'Chicago Reader' names top dining locales and markets in the suburbs.

Of 12 highlighted restaurants for the north/northwest suburbs, the newspaper's writers included two Glenview spots and one just over the border in Niles. Chun Ju, a Korean restaurant at 5707 W. Dempster, Cho Jung, 952 Harlem, and Royal Malabar Catering, 991 B Greenwood, all made the  list.

They praised the stews, including goat, beef, tripe and monkfish, at Chun Ju, and commented on the quality and variety at Cho Jung, another Korean favorite. Also featured, Royal Malabar Catering is a rare find, especially chef William George’s Kerala Syrian Christian cooking style known for rich spice combinations.

In nearby Niles in Civic Center Plaza (Waukegan Road and Oakton Street) and , at 5740 W. Touhy made the roundup of best markets. The Reader's writers liked the "oceanic depth" of Fresh Farm's fish department, as well as its variety of produce and its deli department.They also praised the bakery, kimchi selection, live fish selection, and huge produce selection at Super H.
