Glenview's Fall Fashion Guide

We visited some area shops to hear what stylists are saying about this season's hottest threads.

With the cool autumn weather comes the exciting potential of fall fashion.  Patch visited some stores and boutiques in Northbrook and Glenview to get a few stylists’ thoughts on upcoming trends this season.

Tops

Over at The Glen’s Ella Louvi, owner and designer Grace Yoon said long cardigans with light details have been popular among women looking for a simple way to complete almost any outfit.

“You can wear them over anything,” Yoon said. “You can wear it during the day over workout clothes and into the evening.”

Yoon also said leather is a must-have item this year.

Stylists at J. Crew in Northbrook Court said camouflage is popping up in tops and accessories, along with cobalt blue colors being added in all sorts of items.

"The denim jacket is huge again this year," one J. Crew employee said. "That started last year and is continuing this year."

Bottoms

Ella Louvi shoppers will be seeing gray jeans in the inventory and on the runway, which Yoon says will be big this season.

Northbrook's J. Crew is carrying women's shoes with a men's flair, so you might see more ladies out there with wing tips this season.

Accessories

Yoon said Ella Louvi exclusively carries jewelry from the 3 Hearts Boutique in Northbrook, and she only sticks to items made with gold or sterling silver.

She also said very sparkly crystals have been popular this year, which will stay a hot accessory through the holiday season.

At J. Crew, shoppers are seeing mixed media jewelry and bags with quilting.

Men's Fashion

Northbrook's J. Crew staff suggest very tailored, slim fitting looks will be the norm this season. Also, shoes without socks, or very fun or colorful cocks.

They're also seeing mix-and-match patterns and textures in shirt and tie combinations, even shirt and sweater outfits.

Over at Northbrook Court's Johnston & Murray, some of their newest shoes have been showing a lot of color. Boots or shoes that would have been all brown before, now have colorful suede detailing or an unusual lace.

The shop has also been carrying vintage, Americana boots that can be dressed up or down, depending on the outfit and time of day.
