Holiday Happenings in Glenview

Between the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, be sure to catch some of these special events going on throughout town.

Kick off the holiday season with Glenview's Holiday in the Park and Parade! The annual event is set for Nov. 24 beginning at Noon. Follow the parade down Glenview Road from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church going west to Jackman Park.

Festivities in the park following the parade include a visit with Santa, hay rides, a train ride for kids provided by Kohl’s Children Museum, carolers, cookies, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and popcorn.

Sign up for the Gingerbread Jubilee at Wagner Farm where you can decorate a gingerbread barn that is good enough to eat! Maier’s Bakery of Morton Grove is providing the pre-assembled gingerbread barns. Icing and candy is provided by the Glenview Park District. All you need to bring is the imagination.

The Jubilee is set for December 1 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Park District. Cost is $50 / barn for residents, $62.50 for non-residents. Up to six family members can decorate one barn.

Glenview’s Glen Town Center brings its annual Holiday Merriment Celebration to town on Dec. 16 from 5 – 9 p.m.

The Center, located on Tower Drive, will be hustling and bustling with several activities for the entire family to enjoy including a live reindeer petting zoo, horse-drawn sleigh rides, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, strolling carolers and special promotions at businesses and restaurants.

Christmas carolers will be spreading cheer throughout the evening, stopping at several stores along the way. 

Carolers will also be singing Dec. 22 at the Glen Town Center. Between 4 – 6 p.m. the group will be stopping in at local businesses to spread their cheer for the season.

Still have holiday shopping to get done? Haven’t started yet? The Grove Holiday Store at the Kennicott House, 1421 Milwaukee Ave., will be open Nov. 23 through Dec. 23 on Wednesdays through Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The store offers decorations, personalized ornaments, gourmet and baked items, unique home accessories, and gifts all hand made by local artisans.

Admission and parking are free.

Catch the Winter Holiday Figure Skating Exhibition at the Glenview Ice Center, 1851 Landwehr Rd. Dec. 21 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Glenview’s finest figure skating students and synchronized skating teams will perform their competitive programs.

Admission is free.

The 11th annual Winter Carnival at the Glenview Ice Center is set for Dec. 22 through Jan. 6.

There will be daily public skating, beginners only skating lessons, hockey lessons, parent-child hockey scrimmages, youth skills camps and more.

Stop at the Ice Center after Thanksgiving to pick up a Winter Carnival packet, or get a schedule of events online.

And be sure to check out one of the many events that Santa Claus will be stopping in at this season around Glenview.
