OneSight Vision Clinic Provides Free Vision Care and Eyewear to Students in Need -- Collaboration by OneSight and Combined Insurance Brings Vision Care to Chicago

Just recently, at Princeton Elementary School on the City’s South Side, 40 Combined Insurance executives and staff volunteered to service 1,500 students – 300 each day – over the course of five days, from 31 Chicago Public Schools. Students, in third through 12th grades, received comprehensive eye exams and prescription glasses manufactured on-site through OneSight Vision's production vehicle known as “EyeVan” – a complete manufacturing facility on wheels.

Since 1995, OneSight Vision has provided exams and glasses to nearly 67,000 students across Illinois through annual clinics. For the past two years, Glenview-based Combined Insurance has made a donation and offered its full-time employees one paid day off in exchange for volunteering in the community. Through this partnership, thousands of students identified with visual and financial need have been assessed, evaluated and provided with glasses.

Combined Insurance, whose generous $25,000 for the Chicago event makes it possible for these students to see and learn better (this is a portion of the $75,000 that is donated to other OneSight events over a one-year period).

The community initiatives Combined Insurance focuses on cover four key areas: promoting health & wellness, supporting military veterans, helping families in need, and contributing to the welfare of local Hispanic communities.  “We are honored to support CPS students through our sponsorship of the OneSight Vision Clinic,” said Brad Bennett, Combined Insurance president. “Our employees are thankful for the opportunity to serve their local community in such a meaningful way and look forward to helping students see their future.”
