College and ADHD
College is a door-opener for students, especially during these tough economic times, and among the many young adults choosing to pursue college are students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. While the decision to attend college can be beneficial for long-term personal and professional development, these students in particular need to consider the challenges they will face in the classroom. Thankfully, colleges and universities have become more sensitive to the needs of young adult students with ADHD, and have developed resource staff to help with the transition. With college campus tour season coming up, it is important for parents and their soon-to-be college freshman to know where the campus health center is, and what services they provide. Students with ADHD must be willing to utilize these resources to optimize their college experience and learning outcomes.
