The AS Diet

In an effort to combat the symptoms of autism spectrum disorders, many parents rely on a gluten-free or dairy-free diet. Although these diets may provide some symptom relief, parents need to be aware that essential nutrients may be lacking in their child's diet - particularly if that child is a picky eater. Dietary supplementation may be needed to protect health and boost immunity; Omega-3 fats, Vitamins D, B6, and C, magnesium, and lean protein are particularly important to remember. For more information on building and maintaining a balanced diet for your child with AS, check out autismspeaks.org.

Also, don't forget that your child's psychological health is just as important as their physical health. If you feel your child would benefit from a therapeutic connection, Dr. Clatch, Nicole, Roger, and Laura are all ready to help. Please feel free to all our office at (847) 730-3042 or visit us at couragetoconnecttherapy.com to learn more about the services we provide, or to schedule an appointment.
