Violence in the Media

By the age of 12, most children have been exposed to tens of thousands of acts of violence on television, in movies and video games, and on the internet. Repeat exposure to violence in the media can desensitize your child to violence. While most parents talk with their children about issues such as drug and alcohol use, few parents talk about media violence. Take a few minutes today to talk with your child or teen, or even your family, about violence and what they see the media.
