What We Can Do To Ensure That A Child Doesn't Die Every 40 Seconds.

It's up to us to recognize the fact that a child is dying from a single mosquito bite every 40 seconds in Africa and the Sudan. End the epidemic of Malaria: nothingbutnets.net

Hi everyone,

My daughter, Lauren Rose and I have been involved with Nothing But Nets for about 6 years now. We can all agree that the gift of life is the most precious gift we receive and for those of us fortunate enough to have received the gift of having our own children, there is no fonder memory of the day they were born. For those of us who have not experienced being a parent, I am confident that each and every one of you has fond memories of sharing precious moments with friends & family's children, nieces & nephews.

Last Spring, I took my daughter, Lauren Rose to a special event at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL (Prior to the Chicago Sky WNBA home opener) so she could meet some of the staff and courageous givers associated with Nothing But Nets, a charity dedicated to preserving the lives of children in Africa who are in perpetual risk of certain death from one single mosquito bite brought on by Malaria which is up to epidemic proportions in specific regions of the world. Every 40 seconds a child dies of Malaria. $50 will save & protect the lives of 5 entire families when your donation buys bed nets.

Last spring, Lauren Rose and I watched a presentation to a 12 year old girl who had single-handedly raised $100,000.00 on her own for Nothing But Nets. It was an eye-opening experience for my 12 year old to see that a child from her age group could set a goal and reach it entirely on her own-simply amazing. This took perseverance, quiet tenacity and sticktoitiveness but she did it. The take-away was this: in our current state of being, we are all so fortunate to be able to live freely without the threat of going to sleep at night, never knowing whether we or our children will wake up the next morning. So it is our responsibility to give back so that the epidemic that is Malaria can be stamped out by the year 2015, once and for all! That is one of the goals of Chris from Nothing But Nets.
Please join with Lauren Rose and I as we will be contributing our share to nothingbutnets.net where every dollar goes to providing bed nets and every precious moment of life counts.

Please see the letter below and please donate what you can. Remember: $50 will preserve the lives of 5 families.

Thanks a million to all of you for reading & responding positively to my letter today. I encourage you to pass the word on to your friends and business associates as well, seeing as the message is universal and something we all can empathize with and relate to.

Nothing But Nets has a goal of sending 100,000 bed nets to South Sudan by Wednesday – but we're still short!

The need is real and it's urgent. Make your gift today to protect families and save lives in South Sudan.
Dear friend,
As an NBA basketball player, I see nets every day. But basketball nets aren't nearly as important as the ones that Nothing But Nets is sending to South Sudan.

Families fleeing violence on the border of Sudan and South Sudan shouldn't have to worry about their children dying from malaria. And with insecticide-treated mosquito nets provided by people like you, they won't have to.

I refuse to accept that a child dies every minute from a disease that can be prevented by something as simple as sleeping under a net. That's why I am proud to be Nothing But Nets' newest Champion. Please join me today. $50 can protect five families in need right now.
Next month, the United Nation Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign is going to Africa to make sure 100,000 life-saving bed nets reach South Sudanese refugees. But we need more nets to reach our goal for World Malaria Day this Wednesday. I know we can do it.
It only costs $10 to buy a bed net, send it to South Sudan, and teach people there how to use it. We can do this!
$10 will deliver one insecticide-treated bed net that will help make an entire community safer.
$50 can protect five entire families from deadly mosquitoes.
$100 can help save the lives of up to 40 men, women, and children from life-threatening malaria.

This summer, I'm going to be a dad for the first time, and I already know I'll do anything to protect my child. By sending a $10 net, you can help another parent protect his children from malaria. That's a pretty good deal.

That parent needs a bed net right away, which is why I'm asking you to stop what you're doing, and take 30 seconds to help right now. Make your tax-deductible gift now to send a bed net (or 5!) to a family in South Sudan.

I'm proud to be a Champion for Nothing But Nets. I hope you'll join me in giving these families a safe place to sleep at night.
Thanks for your help.
