Dogwood Creek Proves To Be Peaceful, Ideal Getaway For Visitors To Maggie Valley North Carolina!

Dogwood Creek is a "hidden treasure" in Maggie Valley, NC.
Owners Janie & Mike Hinkle couldn't have been friendlier, kinder or more accommodating. The property actually exceeded our family's expectations!

Nestled in beautiful Maggie Valley, North Carolina, the cabin has a nice flow, it's much larger than anticipated and it's extremely functional too.
In fact, this well-maintained getaway covered all the creature comforts any family could ever hope for.

Equipped with a full-sized, almost fully stocked fridge, an easy to work with galley kitchen, replete with all the dish ware, glasses, plates, silverware, tea and coffee pots, double-sink, oven and microwave, a visiting family of 8 or more could easily live carefree for months.

One of the wonderful aspects of Dogwood Creek is the cozy ambience that's impossible to miss. The family room is super-cozy with a nice fireplace (ideal for the winter getaway), complete with television and a fully stocked movie shelf of current and old flicks for even the pickiest of movie lovers-not to mention packets of microwave popcorn lying in wait in the kitchen pantry! The sofa is plush and cushy and ideal for snuggling or cozying up in front of the fire to some tunes on their stereo system.

Visitor's to Dogwood Creek will not need to bring much, outside of their personal effects and shop for fresh groceries. Dogwood is very well equipped, and privacy is not an issue. The bedrooms are private and well-appointed and Janie did a beautiful job decorating the cabin.

The real dark-horse is the downstairs children's sleeping area that's equipped with 4 bunk beds, which my daughter staked her claim on from the moment one!

As for amenities, the Hinkles know that by the end of the day, traveler's want R & R-hence the Jacuzzi. The Hinkle's showed genuine pride of ownership and were responsive to our needs-all with a smile on their faces. Constructive criticisms: After driving 12 hours or so from Chicago, after a long drive and upon showing up later in the evening, we found it rather challenging to arrive to no outdoor lighting from the cabin in the pitch black, plus: the driveway is a steep slope that's very difficult to locate and navigate the first time out. Ultimately, we got used to it and joked about it after a while. My final suggestion would be to include optional fans, since the unit has no A/C. This deep in the mountains, the lack of A/C was actually a non-issue, especially at night, however, perhaps having some box or window fans (not just ceiling fans in the bedrooms) would be a smart option to include moving forward. Finally, the location could not have been better, convenient to everything and easy to navigate. The proprietor's of the local restaurants were fantastic and the food was (once again) surprisingly diverse! We would a thumbs up to Dogwood Creek!
