“Details regarding our security measures are not discussed publicly for obvious reasons,” said Russ Nunley, VP of Marketing and Communications for Knoxville, Tenn. based Regal Entertainment group.

While the theater is not disclosing specifics regarding increased safety measures, Nunley reminds moviegoers that the theater’s standing policies— including the right to inspect the contents of any backpack, package or bag—remain in effect.

Regal released the following official statement July 20 but declined to speak further with any media outlet regarding potential changes to screening schedules and heightened security:

“We are profoundly saddened by the tragedy that occurred at a Denver area theatre and are concerned for the victims and their families. The security and safety of our guests and staff is always our number one priority.  As is our custom, we will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our security needs as necessary. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.”
