Glenview Christmas Tree Recycling, Sledding, Outdoor Ice Skating

A list of the Glenview Park District's designated Christmas tree recycling areas, sledding hills and outdoor ice skating rinks.

Between January 2 - 31, 2013, you may bring your tree to one of the following locations and place it in the designated collection area:

  • Cole Park, 1031 Kenilworth
  • Cunliff Park, 540 Echo
  • Flick Park, 3600 Glenview Road
  • John’s Park, 2101 Central
  • Willow Park, 2600 Greenwood
  • Village of Glenview Public Works, 1333 Shermer

The trees will be recycled into mulch that will nourish plantings throughout the parks.

Sledding:

  • Johns Park, 2101 Central Road

Outdoor Ice Skating:

  • Flick Park, 3600 Glenview Road
  • John’s Park, 2101 Central Road
  • Roosevelt Park, 2200 Grove Street
  • Cole Park, 1031 Kenilworth Lane

With the exception of Cole Park, all sled hills and ice skating rinks are lighted for evening activities and close nightly at 10 pm.

Daily notification of whether the rinks/hills are open/closed will be posted on the park district website at glenviewparks.org as soon as they are opened for the first time this season.

Park Center Offers New Member Discount 

Join Park Center Health & Fitness Center in January and the initiation fee is waived, saving up to $150. Offer valid for first-time memberships only and some restrictions may apply. For more information, call (847) 657-3249.

Glenview Ice Center Winter Carnival, now through January 6, 2013. 

The annual Winter Carnival at the Glenview Ice Center features events for the whole family — daily family public skate sessions, pictures on the Zamboni, a charity hockey game, hockey and figure skating lessons, skating exhibitions, Sundaes on Sundays and Pancakes with Mickey. 

Special guest appearances will include “Skates” the Chicago Wolves mascot, Ronald McDonald, Frosty the Snowman, Sponge Bob and Mickey Mouse.

Some events are free. Several events require pre-registration.
