Silverstein "did not have anything stolen from him, and the offender had no cause whatsoever, no justification, to chase down and stab in the chest the victim," Kreis said. "We've conducted an investigation and determined that Mr. Silverstein's actions were grossly inappropriate, illegal and dangerous to the community."

"From time to time, there are other altercations that may occur over property. Those pale in comparison when it comes to someone stabbing people," Kreis added.

At the time of the alleged assault, the Glenview teen was enrolled at North Shore Academy in Highland Park, a school that serves students who struggle with social, emotional and behavioral demands of school, Chicago Tribune reported.
