PHOTOS: Glenview Remembers The Fallen on Memorial Day
Residents celebrate with a parade and solemn ceremony.
The Village of Glenview came together Monday morning to commemorate Memorial Day, remembering members of the armed forces who gave their lives in service to their nation. The day was marked with a parade that ended at the village's where a ceremony was held. American Legion Post 166 sponsors the parade every year.

The parade kicked off from the Metra parking lot at Grove and Depot Streets at 9 a.m. The route was slightly different this year as the parade then made its way down Pine Street, before turning onto Glenview Road, and finally ending at the memorial on River Drive.

Some of the participants in this year's parade included the t, the , the Marching Band, and the Maple School Band.
USMC Col. Allen Andreasen served as guest speaker for the ceremony and spoke about the history and significance of the holiday.

"On Memorial Day, a grateful nation remembers the proud patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of liberty's blessings," said Andreasen during his remarks. "We remember more than one million Americans who have died to preserve our freedom."
